What We Collect

Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics to understand how people use GitaVaani. This includes:

• Pages visited and navigation patterns
• Device type, browser, and screen size
• Country-level location (not precise location)

PostHog does not collect personally identifiable information. We use the "identified_only" person profiles setting, meaning no individual user profiles are created for anonymous visitors.

Local Storage (Your Browser)

The following data is stored only in your browser using localStorage. It is never sent to our servers:

• Bookmarks — verses you save for later
• Reading progress — which verses you've read in each chapter
• Theme preference — light, dark, or system theme
• Font size — your preferred text size
• Audio history — last played verse for resume listening
• Language preference — your selected reading language

You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

What We Don't Collect

• No user accounts or registration
• No email addresses or personal information
• No cookies for tracking or advertising
• No third-party advertising or ad tracking

Third-Party Services

• Cloudflare Pages — hosts the website, may collect standard access logs
• PostHog — anonymous analytics (hosted in the US)

Your Rights

Under GDPR, DPDPA, and other privacy regulations, you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you (which is essentially none for anonymous visitors)
• Request deletion of any data
• Opt out of analytics by using a browser ad blocker or privacy extension
